One can be said to be guilty of ingratitude when he is unconscious of people’s philanthropic and humanitarian services. Hence the move by Sokoto state NYSC through the Editorial and Publicity Group (EPG) to honour some conscientious and commendable persons  who have contributed both their efforts and resources immensely to the furtherance of the welfare of corps members in Sokoto state.

The top bananas and the crème de la crème of Sokoto state were there to grace the classic and remarkable event which was held at the Grand Ibro Hotel. The Sokoto state NYSC PRO, Mallam Idris Sani, cum Staff Adviser of EPG in his opening remark appreciated the honourees for being there and also expressed his gratefulness to members of the Editorial Publicity Group (EPG) for their unwavering spirit at ensuring that the event was a success.

The state coordinator, Mr Thomas G. Yamma, in his opening address appreciated the hard work of EPG in organizing the night of honour. The recipients were likewise appreciated  by Mr Yamma for their unrelenting support for the scheme. He did not fail to express his gratitude to the Sokoto state Governor, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, His Emminence, the sultan, Alh. Sa’ad Abubakar III, Sarkin Burumi Jabo, Alh. Aliyu Abubakar  and the chairman, NYSC Governing Board, Alh. Abubakar Ladan, for their massive support. In addition, Mr Yamma appreciated the people of Sokoto for their outstanding donations and assistance towards the wellbeing of corps members in the State and still urges them to continue in their good will towards corps members in the state and the sustenance of the scheme.

Abdullahi Maishanu, who represented the chairman NYSC Governing Board, Alh. Abubakar Ladan, received the guests at the event and also guaranteed the boards continual donations and support towards the scheme.

The individuals honoured at the night were Sokoto State Governor, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, His Emminence, the sultan, Alh. Sa’ad abubakar III, Chairman NYSC Governing Board, Alh Abubakar Ladan and the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Thomas G. Yamma. Others were: Skoto State Chief Judge, Secretary to the State Govt, Bridgade Commander, Police Commissioner, Rabbah Local Govt Chairman, Sarkiri Burumin Jabo of Tambuwal local Govt among others.
