Unilorin Graduate receives Presidential Honours and Automatic Employment

A University of Ilorin (Kwara State) graduate of Medicine and Surgery, Dr. Kolawole Toba Gabriel has received President's National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) honors for his service to the country while serving as a corps member.

The award ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on February 11th, 2021.

Dr. Kolawole served in Adamawa German Medical Centre, Yola, Adamawa State during his service year where he initiated a personal CDS Project to reduce infant mortality in Yola, Adamawa State

Edo State Pledges Support for NYSC Members, Seeks Partnership for Rural Development

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has pledged his support and partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Edo State seeking the service of corps members in projecting his administration's reforms in terms of education and health sectors to benefit people living in rural areas of the state.

Senate Rejects Bill Seeking to Modify NYSC Uniform

The Nigeria Senate has rejected a bill sponsored by Senator Emmanuel Bwacha (Taraba-South) seeking to amend the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Act to allow corps members modify the NYSC uniform to conform with their religious beliefs.

If the bill had been passed, it would have allowed corps members to wear skirt, hijab, among others to suit their faith.

Mercy Corps NGO Commits to Nigerian Youth Mentorship

An International Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Mercy Corps, has reiterated its commitment towards youth mentorship across the country.

The Director for Nigeria's Mercy Corps, Darius Radcliffe, disclosed this today during a courtesy call on NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure in his office.

Radcliffe said the aim of Mercy Corps is to alleviate the suffering of teenagers and youths, who are victims of societal abuse such as child molestation, rape and other types of assault.

Firm Offers to Train Corps Members on Vocational Skills

Towards increasing the scope of youth empowerment and job creation among graduate youths, a firm, General Electric, has proposed to train Corps Members in different vocational skills.

It also reiterated its commitment to the development of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme of NYSC Scheme, aimed at job creation among Corps Members.

NYSC DG Asks Corps Members to Become Wealth Creators Through Scheme

Corps Members have been advised to embrace loan opportunities to finance their businesses and become wealth creators through the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, stated this today at Oyo State Orientation Camp in Iseyin, while addressing the 2017 Batch 'B' Stream Two Corps Members deployed to Ogun, Kwara and Oyo States but dislodged to Iseyin camp for their Orientation.

NYSC Solicits More Support from Stakeholders

The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has while appreciating stakeholders of the scheme for their commitment and contribution solicits more support to make it better.

In a statement released by the NYSC it says:

"The NYSC Management wishes to appreciate the support of various stakeholders towards the successful discharge of the Scheme's mandate, especially with regards to the ongoing 2017 Batch 'B' (Stream One) Orientation Course.
