NYSC Trade Unions commends Kazaure's leadership style

Trade unions in the National Youth Service Corps have praised the Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, over the practical steps he is taking to motivate staff of the Scheme.

This was at the maiden meeting of the Director-General with representatives of the unions from all the NYSC Secretariats and the National Directorate Headquarters.

The Unions are Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) and the Nigeria Union of Civil Service Reportorial, Secretarial, Data Processors and Allied Workers (NUPSRAW).

Delegates took turns to shower encomiums on him over the elevation of about 83% of senior and junior staff who sat for the 2016 promotion examinations as well as other welfare measures taken so far since he took over as the Chief Executive of the Scheme.

They used the forum to raise issues that require Management's intervention while also stressing the need for enhanced salary and allowances.

Addressing the gathering, Kazaure thanked the leadership of the three trade unions in the Scheme for the cooperation and support his administration has so far enjoyed from them.

He said the meeting was aimed at sustaining the healthy relationship between the Management and the unions.

The Director-General, who reaffirmed his determination to improve staff welfare as part of his policy direction, said the outcome of the 2016 promotion examination should leave no one in doubt of that.

Kazaure assured that Management would continue to do everything possible to enhance the welfare of both Corps members and staff within the ambit of available resources.

He urged the union leaders to sensitize their members on the need to reciprocate Management's gesture by re-dedicating themselves to duty and avoiding unethical conduct.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Director of Human Resource Management, Mrs. Comfort Makinde, had called for the sustenance of the cordial relationship between the labour unions and the current Management.
