Ministries, Departments and Agencies are being warned by the Federal Government not to reject corp members posted to them by the NYSC.
The NYSC director of press, Bose Aderibigbe, in a statement signed by him, said the secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, gave the directive in a circular sent to MDAs.
According to Aderibigbe, the circular with reference number SGF.15/T/745, condemned the increasing occurrence of refusal of corp members posted to government establishments. He added that in order to put an end to this unwanted development, it is crucial to restate that the directive that MDAs should not reject youth corp members posted to serve at their establishments as their primary place of assignment is still enforceable.
Engr. Lawal said the directive given by the government to MDAs was imperative in order to sustain the objectives of the NYSC scheme which includes participation of Nigerian graduates of specific age group in national development and integration. According to her, they were also directed to guarantee that corp members were actively involved during their primary assignment.
Aderibigbe said that the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, through the NYSC, was expected to monitor the level of obedience of MDAs and give periodic reports to the government.
