The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs), Princess Adejoke Orelope Adefulire has applauded the efforts of the NYSC Scheme in galvanising young Nigerians for participation in development agenda.

She made the remarks today while flagging off the maiden NYSC/SDGs Champions at the NYSC permanent orientation camp keffi, Nasarawa state.

Princess Adejoke stated that the NYSC/SDGs Champions is a group of corps members who will be acting as mouthpiece of the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs on the advocacy and sensitization of the Sustainable Development activities in the 36 states and the FCT and the 774 LGAs.

She further explained that the Corps Champions will develop in the Nigerian citizenry, a commitment to development through awareness creation in the implementation of the SDGs goals and to galvanise nigerians for active participation in the achievement the SDGs goals.

"The Champions will enrich SDGs activities in their various places of primary assignment by collaborating with the host community members to improve on the lives of the youths which is in line with the vision of the SDGs in nigeria", she added.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Director General NYSC, Brigadier General Suleman Zakari Kazaure urged corps members to see their selection as SDGs Champions, as a renewed call to contribute through increased sensitization and Mobilization of their host communities towards the achievement of the SDGs goals.

Earlier in a welcome address, the NYSC Director, Community Development Service and Special Projects Mrs Rhoda kaka Kwaki who was represented by Mrs AS Idowu, commended the SSAP-SDGS for taking a step to tap from the immense potentials of the corps members by creating the first ever 400 young and energetic men and women of all tribes in nigeria to form the full crumb that will galvanise nigerians for the 2030 agenda which no one is to be left behind.

400 Corps members where selected from the 36 states and the FCT as Champions of the NYSC/SDGs.
